Short Session Description (one line): What lessons can we learn from the Make community to engage learners?
Full Session Description (as long as you would like): The Make community is an exciting international subculture of people all over the world taking on the role of producer, not just consumer. These are creators, crafters and inventors who are making things in their own lives and coming together with like minded people in small and larger community events to share what they are doing and what they know. The inclusiveness of this group and the variety of points of entry it offers has many qualities that can be drawn upon by all kinds of educators. From their website, to their magazine, to the grassroots organized events happening in over 60 locations in 2012, from cities like Kansas City, Missouri, USA, to Brighton, UK, to Egypt, Africa. They are involved in a variety of types of outreach to youth and there may be resources in your community that you can tap into to enrich the experience of learners of all ages.

Hi Jennifer -
I love the Maker movement and want to see this proposal accepted, particularly since Dale is a keynote. However, I need this to tie to our mission a bit more. Can you add some language that talks about the global implications or global programs related to Make?
If you can make edits by Friday, let me know. Email me and I'll review it again.
Thanks,
Lucy Gray
