Short Session Description (one line):

The negative impact of neoliberalism on education in United States and China.

Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum):

In the last three decades, education has undergone a profound change as part of neoliberalism. With reforms of politics and economy, the quality of education has been marked by standardization, test, and accountability in both developed and developing country.  In China, college entrance exam has been questioned but still highly prized; in United States, No Child Left Behind has been criticized yet is implemented. This paper aims to investigate the standardization between United States, a capitalist country and China, a socialist country in terms of education and begin a conversation focusing on why and how neoliberalism has negative impact on education in two politically, economically, and socially different countries.
