Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

This Fall, I am serving as a Fulbright Scholar to Azerbaijan, teaching and researching the use of new media and technologies in Baki, an amazing city on the Silk Road. Baki touched so many visitors' lives over the centuries from Alfred Nobel to Alexandre Dumas Dumas. In this session, my students and research partners in the USA and Azerbaijan will share their perspectives and stories on integrating new media and technologies into their education. We will offer strategies and possibilities for integrating MOOCs and GPS into the curriculum with limited resources and equipment; outline future educators' reactions and experiences with new technologies and showcase their stories and projects. The project was developed while teaching interdisciplinary technology courses and collaborated with students and colleagues in Azerbaijan and USA. The project explored a wide range of meanings participants associated with new media and technologies; the impact of new technologies in education; and ways in which participants integrated new media into their projects. Teacher candidates and teachers argued challenges and advantages of mobile technologies as classroom tools; developed skills in integrating global education into their curriculum and deconstructing existing curricula for improving student outcomes.
