Anybody else at ISTE right now? I am looking for a partner to collaborate on a screencasting project with for the upcoming school year. Message me if you are here and interested and we can meet up in the bloggers cafe.
I have a proposal or suggestion for all of you. Why don't you put your resources and ideas into developing educational Arabic apps? The quantity and quality of educational apps in Arabic lags way behind other languages. Do you realize there is not one single app to teach either native or non native speakers the mechanics of reading AND writing in Arabic? Most apps that teach writing teach only how to write the letters in their independent shapes and those that teach phonics do not teach writing. Such a simple thing and yet it does not exist.
Wow, look at how this discussion has done on for two years! What an interesting topic. Thanks for sharing all. I visited Bahrain in 2010 and am really interested in learning more about the Middle East, so this is insightful.

It has been interesting. We are planning on continuing it in person next year at ISTE. Mohammed and I crossed paths last year at ISTE without knowing that we had been communicating online. Now that we know each other we plan to meet in person at the next ISTE. Your welcome to join us as is anyone else on here that is following this discussion.
I think you are mistaken because we as teachers in Ibn Al Nafees School in Fujairah Cycle 1 for Boys, UAE, use the technology in our classes for all subjects and it works. Can you specify please in which area? Do you mean in Education, business, commerce, health,...? My concern is using the technology in Education which help a lot in clarifying lessons and make the atmosphere so motivated for the children.

Your guess is almost right Samah and I think it need our education ministries to be seriously and take actions by monitoring and developing its instructions, rules and the methods of following their teachers/administrations in schools within academic years even how to analyze applying the activation processes not only activate labs. We should learn from international experiences and apply it not copy and paste standards on gov. Docs only without applying in physically.
