Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum): In this session, you will learn how your class/team/school can participate in OneWorld Classrooms’ World Classroom Adventures program. Participating K-12 classrooms travel electronically to the Amazon Rain Forest or Africa and interact with students who live there. The program is aligned with EdStep’s Global Competence Matrix; with tailored curriculum connections in Social Studies, Language Arts, Science, Technology, Music, Art and Spanish. The program also offers a professional development opportunity for teachers to travel with our field team to visit schools in the Amazon Rain Forest or Africa.
OneWorld Classrooms’ mission is to prepare young people for local and global citizenship and for community engagement in culturally diverse settings, by providing them opportunities to interact and learn with their global peers in the context of the K-12 curriculum. We offer innovative arts and technology-based programs and services through which students and after-school program children and youth 1) share, collaborate and explore with their peers from different cultures; 2) develop global awareness and cross-cultural understanding; and 3) gain the skills, knowledge and attitudes they need to improve their academic achievement and become thoughtful, compassionate and globally competent individuals.
