Full Session Description:
Write Our World is an emerging international nonprofit dedicated to empowering and educating multilingual youth worldwide. Our interactive digital library provides the opportunity for kids to publish their own original ebooks that share some aspect of their lives and read those written by their peers from different backgrounds. Currently our library holds 117 ebooks written by 382 students in 4 countries in 25 languages! These students are unique in that they speak both heritage and dominant languages (such as immigrant, refugee and indigenous youth). Our goal is to build an inclusive educational resource that is available to all and continually growing and expanding to include more voices and cultural representation.
We are currently developing curriculum to support integration into various settings to meet different educational goals. Write Our World is a powerful tool for students K-16 in ELD classes, after school programs, as a means for Family and Community Engagement and more.
We have just released a Free Trial and welcome the participation of any youth, community groups, classrooms, etc who would like to read the books and/or publish some of their own. In return, we ask for feedback so we might develop our resource to best meet the needs of its users.
