Short bio or reason for joining Actionable Innovations Global:
Both my personal life and my work have made global awareness and learning a core element in how I experience the world. I have been blessed by the chance to work with youth, armed with digital cameras and tape recorders, in Eastern Europe, East Africa, China--and am passionate about sharing their work and voices.
Global education projects or initiatives in which you are involved (if applicable):
WKCD, a US-based nonprofit that promotes "powerful learning with public purpose," has worked with youth as social documenters and knowledge creators across four continents. Our "Global Youth Voices" program includes more than 100 media pieces created by youth worldwide and an international initiative called "In Our Global Village" (IOGV). Five years ago, I produced a photo essay book with youth in a rural Tanzanian village that documented daily life there. Since then, over 30 groups of students and teachers in the US and across the world have produced their own "In Our Village" books--from North Hollywood, CA to the jungles of Nepal.
