  • Hi Elizabeth,

we are good here in Canada!

I am still working with students and teachers in the area of video in the classroom, and have been focusing most of my pro-d on helping educators create meaningful video projects, that is, projects that create change or conversation around community, family and self. I'm going to be in Europe next month at the Media and Learning conference speaking on this topic, and also presenting a workshop at the University Leuven in Brussels on the topic of connected learning, which goes even further than jus video, and looks at why we teach at all, and how we can design learning that matters.

I started an education foundation called OliveUs three years ago and have been testing out a project called InStill Life in about a dozen schools here in B.C. and then will share with the rest of the world. It invites elementary students to change the world by issuing real cash micro-loans to farmers in developing countries. cash is raised by sales of gift cards which they have created with their own StillLife paintings of food. geography, math, tech, literature, science, is wrapped around it and explored and presented to support their primary objective, which is to learn, participate and lead change in the world as learners and as leaders. I did a TEDx talk on this a few months ago if you are interested:

So, that's what I've been up to, looks like you have been busy expanding your work and resources as well!

    Nikos
