Short bio or reason for joining Actionable Innovations Global:

An award-winning journalist for 33 years, I jumped off a cliff in late August 2006 and started a non-profit dedicated to engaging students to write and providing them audience. Our main site, http://youngwritersproject.org, now has 4,000 Vermont students as users who have created a vibrant and civil online community. We publish best work in 12 newspapers and on public radio each week. Our YWP Schools Project can be found at http://ywpschools.net and we are working with 57 schools in Vermont, NH and several foreign countries.

Global education projects or initiatives in which you are involved (if applicable):

Young Writers Project created digital spaces for use by students outside school or in school. We are creating sites in schools in Shanghai and Uganda. We are helping schools later this year with connections to schools in Australia and Uganda. But mostly we are doing formative work -- helping students connect with each other here in Vermont, learning how to articulate their observations, opinions and ideas and to connect with each other with respect and civility.
