Short bio or reason for joining Actionable Innovations Global:

I have taught at Lincoln Elementary since 2001. In my teaching career, I have had the blessing of teaching at every grade level from pre-K to 6th in places as varied as the Navajo Nation, Texas, Ecuador, Kenya and Indonesia. I am proud Texan who loves living and working in beautiful Washington. I hold a Masters Degree in Education with an English as a Second Language and a Social Studies Endorsement. I love trying out new techniques and technology in my classroom. I consider myself a bit of a technogeek. Travel is a passion for me. I have traveled extensively on 6 continents and have lived and worked on 4. I am currently a member of the Discovery Educators Network, contributing lessons and ideas on the Discovery Channel. I just returned from a week of training at the Discovery National Institute where we worked on movie making, podcasting and learned about lots of Web 2.0 programs including Ning. I also serve as a volunteer regional educator resource for Heifer International, an organization that works with sustainable development around the world. I am the recipient of two technology grants. One of which, I hope the Ning community can help with. I am looking for 5th and 6th grade teachers interested in collaborating on an interactive, technology rich math project. My husband and I enjoy walking our giant mutt Roswell, going on roadtrips, camping, gardening and restoring and renovating our100 year old home in Mount Vernon.

    Hi Martha -

Do you have any connections with schools in Ecuador? I have a colleague who is looking to collaborate with a school there specifically because her school's Spanish teacher is from there. By the way, this is a first grade teacher.

    Thanks,

    Lucy

    Hi -

I'm not sure what your name is, but thanks for posting the project! I hope you get some takers. I personally have to hold back on joining projects until I know what teachers at my new school are into... I can't wait to hook them up with all the wonderful projects I'm learning about online!

Did you post something in the chat area about posting an introduction? Someone named Martha left a comment there and I wanted to make sure that person knew what to do. Basically, you make an entry in the forum and then there is a pull down menu for categorizing the post. Select the Introduction category. If that wasn't you that posted the comment in the chat area, ignore this!! :)
