This is the third meeting of 2009 for Global Education Collaborative members. The focus of this meeting will be organizations focused on global education initiatives. Anyone is welcome to attend and chat about their involvement with groups devoted to global awareness, social justices and broadening the perspectives of people. This meeting will start on Friday night at 8 PM in my time zone, CST (GMT -6) . People in North America, South America, Asia and Australia will probably find this time more convenient than those in Europe and Africa. A second meeting is scheduled after this to accommodate different time zone needs. For help with time zones, visit http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/.

  • Hi. I just posted this on David Gibson's page (Global Challenge Award)

I'm looking for other global educators interested in building a long-term relationship. The goal will be to work out all the kinks running projects together in different time zones and with different types of students.

I am in the early stage process of conceptualizing and building student design challenges related to appropriate-scale bioreactors for:

    1. Algal biodiesel production
    2. Bioethanol fermentation (starting with starchy root feedstocks)
    3. Waste bioremediation
    4. Closed-loop ecosystems for manned space exploration

I can't do this alone. I have a vision that much of this work will be done with student collaborators. Teachers collaborating on this will simply set up the design challenges, provide design criteria that meet their local community needs, tools for collaboration and pointers towards sources of information.

  • Sorry I cannot attend the next meeting, however I will check back for any projects that I think my students and I can join. I teach 4th grade. Also, I recently learned that I can use Skype in school my skype name is somotch8. I would also like to share a PBwiki page so that others can add their name to for future reference and projects.
