Global Leadership Week (GLW) is a weeklong convening of virtual and face to face events designed to celebrate leadership through global action in K20 education. GLW is an opportunity for education leaders to learn from one another and share effective principles in leadership, particularly within the context of an interconnected, global age. The Global Education Conference Network is the primary organizer of Global Leadership Week.

Questions we plan to address through Global Leadership Week are:

  • What is global competence, why is it important,  and how does this concept fit into existing education priorities?
  • What does it mean to be a global-ready school?
  • How do we prepare students and teachers to be global-ready?
  • How can we ensure equity within global opportunities for students and teachers?
  • How does a school or district foster empathy and other soft skills within its community?
  • How can we heighten awareness about the importance of the global education movement?

Global Leadership Week will elevate and broaden the global education dialogue, bringing attention on the urgent need to develop global awareness and competency in students and teachers.  Global Leadership Week partner organizations will provides resources and inspiration for teacher leaders, school leaders, district leaders and state/national leaders to further develop global goals within systems.

There are several components to GLW:

  1.  During Global Leadership Week, partner organizations, companies, school districts and individual schools will design and host their own virtual events to showcase thought leadership. These events will be listed on an GLW calendar posted to our website
  2. The Global Education Conference Network is also organizing an exclusive face-to-face international networking Global Education Summit at ASCD's Empower 18 conference in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 23, 2018.
  3. Additionally, GlobalEd Events is organizing  its second  Global Education Fair, a virtual event that will allow educators to learn more about the work of leading global education groups. The Global Education Fair is free to attendees and nominal fees are charged to non-profit and for profit presenting groups to cover event costs.
