In addition to his ongoing work in conservation and education, Manoj was previously the Executive Director of the Jane Goodall Institute Nepal for eight years.

Manoj is the founder of Schools for Sustainable Development Goals. He is known for his inspiring life story, sustainable community-based approaches to positive change, fearless advocacy for animal protection, relentless pursuit of his humanitarian convictions, and compelling storytelling. Manoj strives to prepare the next generation of global citizens to be informed, empowered, and engaged through experiential and perspective-based learning.

In addition to the collaborative educational opportunities that are the core of Schools for Sustainable Development Goals, high school and university students also have travel opportunities for experiential learning in Nepal. As part of those experiences, students work directly with the local community and focus on specific SDG goals customized to their curriculum, interests, and educational objectives. Through developing partnerships between schools and local communities, students develop a deeper understanding of the SDGs in authentic, real-world scenarios, providing increased opportunities for local actions that can make a real difference in those communities (and globally).

On July 10th, Dr. Julene Reed will interview Manoj about his ongoing work in Nepal, his current education initiatives, and their focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Sustainable Development Goals provide an excellent framework for global education. International schools around the globe are focusing on the SDGs framework and integrating it into their curriculum models. When these models are employed successfully, schools worldwide have the potential to impact the realization of the SDGs significantly.
