Dear Actionable Innovations Global Community Members,

The Global Learning for an Open World Conference Call for Proposals is open, and rolling acceptances started on August 15th! Submit your session proposal early to access our booking calendar for the conference and choose your ideal presentation time slot. Also, if you missed Bill Rankin’s presentation design, catch the recording here

What types of proposals are ideal for the GLOW Conference? Here are some ideas. Consider presentations that:

  • examine the role of student engagement when planning for global collaborative projects and show teachers concrete examples of international collaborative projects
  • describe professional development efforts to help teachers and students at all levels become globally competent and innovation-minded
  • address how to foster leadership skills in students of all ages through service learning
  • showcase best practices in developing global curricula at school and district levels
  • demonstrate inquiry-based learning and other innovative teaching methodologies
  • explore the role of school administrators in supporting global learning among their immediate communities comprised of students, parents, teachers, and local communities
  • show how to meet the needs of ELLs through dual language programs
  • outline the most effective instructional strategies and technologies for successful language classrooms
  • offer lesson and project ideas for incorporating the SDGs in K12 education
  • discuss the role of the SDGs in higher education and teacher education programs
  • provide ideas for fostering stewardship of our planet through climate change education
  • showcase expeditionary learning opportunities, including virtual exchanges and study abroad, gap year, and service-learning programs
  • discuss grants, scholarships, and volunteer opportunities for students and teachers
  • demonstrate technology-enhanced experiential learning tools
  • discuss higher ed global program evaluation, curriculum design, and related policies
  • present international education and development education research opportunities
  • detail teacher education programs that focus on global competence
  • discuss university and school partnerships

Remember, our community is about taking action in education, so proposals are required to provide some actionable advice or an invitation to act. In addition to solo presentations, consider submitting proposals with panel discussions, interviews, and other interactive formats.

If you have events and resources related to global education and innovation, please post details in our online community, and we’ll include this information in our following newsletter. We publish our newsletter on the first and fifteenth of each month.
