Short Session Description (one line):
CITYarts’ Young Minds Build Bridges program builds bridges of cultural understanding by bringing youth from around the globe together through art by way of personal and social media communication.
Full Session Description (one paragraph minimum):
Founded in 1968 in New York City, CITYarts has produced 287 public art projects in collaboration with over 500 artists, 100,000 city youth and nearly 500,000 community volunteers. The CITYarts Young Minds Build Bridges program was designed to build bridges of cultural understanding by bringing youth from around the globe together through art. CITYarts Director, Tsipi Ben-Haim created the Young Minds Build Bridges program following the tragic events of 9/11. The program includes the Pieces for Peace Project, the Pieces for Peace Traveling Exhibition, the Pieces for Peace Online Mosaic, and four Peace Wall murals have been created around the world. This presentation shows how Young Minds Build Bridges strengthens bonds among youth worldwide and helps to foster positive relationships among young people from diverse backgrounds through art. CITYarts has launched the Young Minds Build Bridges network through www.cityartsdaily.org. We will invite presentation participants to learn about CITYarts and to take part in the CITYarts Young Mind Build Bridges program and network with youth from around the world. Behind every mural, sculpture, and mosaic that we produce are the people who help make it possible: the children, the artists, the neighborhoods, the sponsors, CITYarts' staff, Board of Directors and Advisors, the building owners and managers, and the volunteers that are almost too many to count. We invite you to become part of CITYarts and take part in our creative process.
