Detailed description:
We are Frédéric Kastner [programme manager] and Malik Wilson [Creative Manager], of the free global education project ‘FuseSchool’. We would like to hold a session about the inspiring change driven by the worldwide Open Educational Resources (OER) Movement.
Our panel would highlight what OER are, and why it seems crucial for teachers from every country to join the global phenomenon that is the Open Educational Resource Movement. We would further explain how it can positively affect teachers and students from any background to excel and how innovation from the global South is making a difference in this decade of openness in education. Key points that the audience would take away are:
- Opportunities the global OER movement presents to teachersOpportunities the global OER movement presents to students
- What it takes to become proficient at:
- finding relevant great resources in an ocean of resources
- creating your own resources
- What it takes to become proficient at:
- Multimedia content as the future of engaging content
- Co-creation, sharing and remixing of OER as activities that can be realized by anyone
- Co-creation of OER between teachers and students
- International collaboration
- South <-> North: The power of bidirectional idea exchanges
- Why the movement needs strong contributions from African, Asian, and South American countries beyond
We want to inspire teachers and students to follow and benefit from the OER Movement. But even more importantly, we want you to leave with the skills to contribute and collectively lead the way in innovating education in the 21st century.
