Greetings Fellow Educators,
I have been running a project called FACE IT-TRACE IT-ERASE IT for two years. It is a three Phase assignment that allows students from all over the world to work together to solve serious issues such as pollution, government corruption, the education of women, and many more. The students are made into teams according to the topic they pick. Then they meet at my website and work together to complete the 3 Phases.
Phase 1, FACE IT: Students must describe their topic and what it means to them.
Phase 2, TRACE IT: Students develop a thesis and engage in a research project together that supports
their thesis.
Phase 3: ERASE IT: Students develop ways to solve their issues and present them in a digital movie form
or a written form. All products are up to the students and must be approved.
So far we have had over 300 students from 5 continents participate. Trophies are given to students that receive a 100% in all 3 phases. Certificates of Excellence for students with A averages and certificates of Achievement for all students that complete the 3 phases with at least an 80%.
We are looking for 21st century teachers that are seeking to engage their students in a significant event that will change their lives forever. The future of education is collaborative, project and product oriented projects. That is exactly what we provide. You can see much of our work at www.gceafghanistan.ning.com. We use that site because it has been offered to us for free by the US State department who help us keep an eye on the interactions between the students. It is a robust site that allows the transfer, uploading and downloading of large files.
We plan to start the third session in September, 2011. If you are interested in making educational history please contact me at streljg@d11.org. I would be happy to send you all the materials you need with complete explanations. All work is national standards based. This project can be as simple as you like or as vigorous as you want. It can last a week, month, semester or year. It is up to you and your administration. I look forward to meeting you.
