Hi Everyone,
I hope it's OK to post this.My name is Jerry Janes and I am a Nebraska public school teacher. My wife, Marga is as well. We’re both career changers, this being our tenth year in the classroom, and Marga is from Brazil. We recognize the need for authentic reform in education on a global scale and are reaching out to those who of similar mindset, such as you.
Please logon to our website, http://globalstandardschool.com for a quick view of our concept. We seek to find international partners with whom to write the first, true set of Global Education Standards spanning Pre-K to 16. Once the standards are written, we plan to back them up with the curriculum developed via our sister site, http://nationalstandardschool.com in order to create the first Global Standard School.
National Standard School has been pitched this last year to both private and public organizations and has garnered interest, but given our national economic crisis, NSS is not yet a viable option here in the U.S. We anticipate, with Secretary Arne Duncan’s recent indication of alternatives to No Child Left Behind for failing schools, and with the upcoming 2012 presidential election, that we are positioned to soon be one of the preeminent solutions.
Would you be interested in collaborating or partnering with Global Standard School? If so, please let us know. If you do not see yourself being involved, would you please share this with those you think might? For now, our efforts are focused on putting together the international committee to write the standards, Step One of many.
Thank you for your time and please contact me for more information or with questions.

Hi Jerry -
I noticed that you chose the 2011 Conference as your category for your post. That category is for conference proposals and related information. Is this a proposal for our event? If not, edit your post and choose another more relevant category. This will help your post to be found and read by others.
That said, have you seen the Asia Society/CCSSO ebook on global competency? I think that document would relate well to your work.
Also, do you know of this foundation in Nebraska? http://www.malaikafoundation.org/. The founder just came to one of my presenations in NYC, and she's lovely!

Hi Lucy,
I don't know how it ended up in the wrong category but I edited and reposted it to Collaborative Projects. Thanks for the heads-up and the great suggestions, which I'll pursue!
Jerry
What an interesting idea! I suggest you also post this call for action on other sites. One that would get a lot of both US and international "traffic" is the Teacher Forum of ePals. (See: http://www.epals.com/forums/default.aspx?GroupID=53) ePals has more than 25 million viewers monthly, from 200 countries, the world's largest K12 social learning network.
You would have to sign up for a free account in the ePals Global Community to be able to post on the site. Anyone who can get on the internet can read the posts, so it would be another place you could find many teachers with similar interests!
You might also look at the Asia Society for some things they have written about global education that might be useful to you.
Good luck with this project!
