Short Session Description (one line):
Creating and maintaining a compost pile and using it as a sustainable project in a recovering nation in Africa.
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Starting with the different organic matters needed in a compost pile, we’ll explain how these affect the pile and how each element is important (such as carbon and nitrogen). We will talk about the basic structure to make a pile and give tips on how to maintain it to make sure it works. We will specify what you will need as well as the required environment for it. Also, we will relate this to other examples of sustainable methods of being eco-friendly and show pictures of our own compost piles and explain what they will be used for. Our long-term goal was to continuously make compost piles and to teach poorer schools in how to make them so that all their bio-degradable trash can be re-used and the soil can be used for gardens. By teaching other schools, we are making the project sustainable as they do not depend on us. At the end will be a short quiz to make sure everyone understands the basics.
