Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
A large group, of say more than 15 kids, can divide into subgroups so that work is more efficient. Groups consists of book making, educational materials, website creation, and fundraising so far. Each group focuses on making a place in order to contribute to the overall goal of spreading literacy. For example, book making took a Mozambican folk tale and made it into a prototype of an interactive picture book; educational materials made pillows, decorations, and decided on simple games to make by hand for the children; website creators started a basic website to which online versions of books can be added, as well as information about the foundation, games, pictures etc; and Fundraising came up with ideas to generate money, one of which was making a benefit party for Livro Aberto. Students are empowered through the creation and collaboration process using technology to promote literacy on one of the poorest and most illiterate countries in the world.
