Looking to collaborate globally for my students

I am a 7th grade Language Arts teacher new to this Ning. I stumbled across it this week as I was looking for some ways to connect with others so my students can expand their global awareness. I don't think my school is necessarily great at giving our students a way to connect to others outside of our community.

 

So, if anyone is willing to collaborate with me, I would love it!

 

I am currently getting ready to teach the novel Tangerine, which discusses many environmental themes (lightning strikes, citrus fruit freezes, sink holes, being legally blind, and muck fires are ones we talk about specifically). So, anyone with any connection to those concepts, or any ideas of were to go would be awesome! My students will also be reading an independent novel based around environmental concerns as well. So really, I'm just looking for anyway to connect these themes to real life.

    I am no longer teaching in the classroom however I am creating a website you might enjoy and it might be helpful as you connect with other schools.

    The Enabling Support Foundation is facilitating an international collaboration among students. Right now we have teachers in Pakistan, Australia, Ireland, Ukraine, the Republic of Georgia, as well as the US involved. If you are interested write me at drz@enabling.org.
