  • Dear Alona,

I hope you are well. I am interested in a possible collaboration between Finnish faculty and primary school teachers and the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I read you teach in adults in Finland, so I thought to reach out.

Recently, I was awarded a Global Scholars Grant (a US Department of Education initiative) to learn how other nations are teaching children about global issues with emphasis on Finland. I am interested in Finland as a nation that values teaching children about their rights and one that has UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools.

I wish to collaborate with Finnish faculty who are preparing teachers to teach about global issues in ways that are appropriate for the primary grades, ideally those related to the newly enacted Global Goals, as well as primary school teachers doing the same.

  • Hi, my name is Sonia, I´m a Computer Science teacher and the technology director in a school in Bogotá, Colombia.

In my school we have been reading about education in Finland, and we are fascinated with that.

From your experience, can you help us to know more about the role of technology in your education system? Do you have any restrictions for students or teachers to access to Internet or webpages?

This information is very valuable to us, especially if we get a person from Finland, because in the books and videos we find the general, but details like that are not so obvious and we assume that they are very interesting.

    I appreciate your valuable information.

    Greetings,

    Sonia
