Erin is a senior manager of education partnerships-west for The News Literacy Project. She is passionate about news literacy and supporting educators. A former instructional leader for Sioux Central, a rural K-12 school in NW IA, Erin combined her passions for literacy and technology to support teacher and student voice. Erin's experience in education includes serving Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency as instructional technology integrationist for three years, teaching middle school language arts for three years and high school English for seven. Erin has served as a moderator for #1to1techat and serves as a Seesaw Ambassador. Her work has been featured and discussed in the New York Times. A connected educator, Erin connected her students globally. Her students designed, created, and published with students internationally. A highlight for her students was the opportunity to engage in a panel with the World Health Director. Erin used technology to eliminate classroom barriers and continues to do so as she supports technology integration. Erin speaks about the importance of empowering students through service. She has presented nationally at conferences including November Learning's Building Learning Communities conference in Boston, MA as well as ISTE. In 2015, Erin was awarded the ITEC State Technology Leadership Award for her support of integration, teachers and students statewide. Erin shares her commitment for collaboration and creation. Instructional designer and coach, Erin bridges technology and literacy. Erin advocates for student contribution explaining, "I do not want my students to be the best in the world, I want them to be the best FOR the world."
