As a cultural anthropologist I am inherently curious about what it means to be human, how people live, our similarities and differences, and the nuanced ways in which we create our worlds. I am specifically interested in what happens when culture changes (due to an extreme event, time, contact with other people, and so on). As a citizen of the world and an anthropologist, I believe that it is crucial for all people to have a better understanding of those around us and in reality the world is becoming a much smaller, more accessible place each and every day. Thus, global education for me, is providing access to the people and places with whom we have a shared connection either through actual contact or through the global economy or even the internet.
