Short bio or reason for joining Actionable Innovations Global:
Recently developed Social-Emotional Learning and Problem-Based/Project-Based curriculum for 6th and 7th grade students to foster justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Trying to teach suburban students to see beyond the borders of their small community to actively and productively engage in a global community.
Global education projects or initiatives in which you are involved (if applicable):
Before being recognized as the 2015 Ohio Teacher, I completed a Teaching East Asian Literature in the High School Curriculum workshop at Indiana University in Bloomington, which served as a catalyst for my desire to change the myopic view many students have of the world. In 2017, as an NEA Global Teaching Fellow, I had the good fortune to travel to China. Consequently, I want to remove barriers and inspire students to see the world and its citizens more holistically, without fear, bias, or preconceived notions. I continue to support our ELL program and assist with an International Night event at our high school.
