Michael O. Johnston earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a double major in Sociology and Psychology from Buena Vista University in 2007, Masters of Public Administration from Iowa State University in 2009, and Ph.D. of Public Administration from Walden University in 2014. His dissertation research, entitled Understanding Violent Adolescent Males: Implications for Post-Release Recidivism, is on the barriers and supports to nonviolence for young adult males who were adjudicated or received an informal adjustment for simple assault during middle adolescence. Prior to academia, Dr. Johnston worked in before and after-school programming. Dr. Johnston entered academia in 2010 as a Lecturer for the Master of Public Administration program at Iowa State University, as well as served as a member of Adjunct Faculty at William Penn University and Buena Vista University. In 2013, Dr. Johnston was hired as a full-time Instructor of Sociology at William Penn University and is now an Assistant Professor of Sociology at William Penn University.
