The seventh annual Design Science/Global Solutions Lab is being held this summer, June 19-27, 2011 at the UN in New York and Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA.  Students and young professionals from around the world will be briefed by UN experts, and then develop viable solutions to the critical problems confronting humanity. After participants are briefed by UN experts from UNDP, UNEP, UNICEF, and other UN agencies, they develop designs and strategies for achieving one or more of the UN's Millennium Development Goals. This year the focus is on what mobile phone apps and tech can do towards meeting basic human needs and urban regeneration.
Students work collaboratively and intensely for seven days. Their work is presented to UN staff on the last day of the Lab, as well as published in an annual book. Further details and registration information are at:http://www.designsciencelab.com  You can also download the new book of the work of previous Labs at http://www.designsciencelab.com/book.
