I currently am working on two projects. 1) My 4th grade students have a country/culture studies blog. The students blog using kidblog . I embedded the blog onto a webpage so I could add a visitor map. Last year's blog had visitors form over 25 countries and this year we are well on our way topping that number. The blog itself is a simple representation of the work done by the 4th grade students. What makes this project amazing in the connections made across the globe. I tweet out the link during class and these 10 year old children jump in delight as they realize their website/blog is being viewed around the world. It's been a great project which demonstrates the power of social media and how one voice can be heard across the globe. 2) I have a website that includes a blog written by myself and a teacher in Bududa, Uganda. I have completed a Challenge 20/20 project with the Bududa Vocational Institute and Chestnut Hill Academy.The Ugandan teacher and I frequently Skype and chat with each others students. Communicating with someone in a developing country brings a new level of understanding to my students.
