Short bio or reason for joining Actionable Innovations Global:

Need to develop collaboration with English-speaking schools on Science, Cultural and language and arts programs. We provide free marine biology programs about the Sea of Cortés. We need to interact with native English speaking students for accent reduction, pronunciation help for our mostly native Spanish-speaking English students, and sustainable future program with other Spanish-speaking students. But wait, there's more...

Global education projects or initiatives in which you are involved (if applicable):

Virtual Beach Walk, Tide Pool Discovery, live from the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortés, Mexico) -- since 2003. Sustainable fresh water supply and water conservation. Sustainable energy production and conservation. Sustainable food supply from the ocean (open-ocean, deep-water shrimp and fish farming).

  • Thanks Mark. I am so glad this looks like a good fit! I actually have 60 students (two classes of 30), so I may do this with only one class or have teams on this end for each student on that end.

We are actually leaving after today for our spring break, so this will work out perfectly. The shuttle launch should be an amazing experience...have a great time! I am looking forward to working with you and your students.

    Ciao!

  • Hi Mark. I teach two Honors Spanish classes and am a 1:1 laptop pilot classroom. I would like to explore the possibility of having a collaboration that would include language practice (our English help for your Spanish help!) as well as learning about the sustainable future program. Let me know what you think. ¡Gracias!
  • Your website is amazing. I will definitely share your info with members of our biology department. Also, I would like to do a limited project with you if you are interested. My school has videoconferencing capability. I currently teach a class of 13 anthropology students (12thgrade), 20 civics and economics students (12th grade) and 20th century U.S. history (11th grade). I could envision creating a small ning for communication on some of the issues you mentioned, especially food and energy with my civics/econ class. Would you be interested posting a few articles and then have students respond in a blog format? Alternatively, we could structure something more formal? We could poll attitudes and habits using google docs? Since this is the first time doing this, I was thinking of starting simple and focus on meeting people from a different part of the world and discussing issues. What do you think? I would be interested in hearing your ideas. yours, Ron
