    The seventh annual Design Science/Global Solutions Lab is being held this summer, June 19-27, 2011 at the UN in New York and Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA.  Students and young professionals from around the world will be briefed by UN experts, and then develop viable solutions to the critical problems confronting humanity. After participants are briefed by UN experts from UNDP, UNEP, UNICEF, and other UN agencies, they develop designs and strategies for achieving one or more of the UN's Millennium Development Goals. This year the focus is on what mobile phone apps and tech can do towards meeting basic human needs and urban regeneration.
    Students work collaboratively and intensely for seven days. Their work is presented to UN staff on the last day of the Lab, as well as published in an annual book.     Global Exploration for Educators Organization (GEEO) is a non-profit organization that runs summer professional development travel programs designed for teachers. 

    GEEO is offering 9 different travel programs for the summer of 2011: India/Nepal, Vietnam, Egypt, Turkey/Jordan/Egypt, South Africa/Mozambique/Zimbabwe/
    Botswana, Morocco, Argentina/Uruguay/Brazil, Peru and Costa Rica. Registration deadline is June 1st, 2011, however some of the programs will be full before then. 

    Educators have the option to earn graduate school credit (3 credits through Indiana University) and professional development credit while seeing the world.  The trips are 8 to 23 days in length and are designed and discounted to be interesting and affordable for teachers. GEEO also advises teachers on how to find funding to subsidize the cost of the trips. GEEO provides teachers educational materials and the structure to help them bring their experiences into the classroom. The trips are open to all nationalities of K
