Short bio or reason for joining Actionable Innovations Global:

I am retiring this year, and would like to consult with global institutes. I have a lot to offer!

Global education projects or initiatives in which you are involved (if applicable):

I have created visual introductions of multiple aspects of cultures for elementary students about Hopiland, Japan, Ghana, China, and India, supported by non-fiction texts and folktales. Literacy is the center my social studies units. I have included the study of economy into my Ghana and Japan studies. My curriculum includes poetry, technology, and hands-on activities that help students apply their knowledge they have constructed.

  • What a nice note!  Thank you so much.  For sure reach out to Lucy about the curriculum--she's likely to be a good contact for you!

  • Thanks so much for your comments, Marcy!  I see you've retired from teaching full-time, but just in case, we have a free 50-page Discussion Guide for the film with in-depth questions, activities, and additional resources available on the website at http://http://schoolingtheworld.org/film/discussion-guide/.  It's geared for middle-school through college age students, but a couple of the activities could be adapted for younger students (like the one where students write a sketch or make a short film about a team of Ladakhi education "aid" workers coming to the US to advise us on how to educate our children.)  Thanks again, and hope to bump into you sometime during the conference!  best, Carol
